Over a career spanning more than 40 years, Prof. Scott has made major Engineering contributions and is recognised internationally as one Australia’s most outstanding Aerospace Engineers and a leader in advanced composite structures and materials. Significant evidence of this includes election as a World Fellow of the International Committee on Composite Materials (ICCM), Honorary Fellow of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) and Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia. Two additional prestigious honours presented to him are the 2017 Scala Award of ICCM and 2019 Lawrence Hargrave Award of the Royal Aeronautical Society Australian Division. He served as CEO of Australia’s Cooperative Research Centre for Advanced Composite Structures for 13 years and is now Chairman of its successor Advanced Composite Structures Australia. His work has been essential in maintaining Australia’s status as a key supplier to global aircraft manufacturers. Prof. Scott has edited two books and published over 100 papers on aerospace science and technology.

Professor Scott has made major research and innovation contributions in the field of Aerospace Structural Engineering over the last 25 years. He is recognised internationally as a leading researcher in advanced composite aerospace structures and represents Australia on the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences and International Committee on Composite Materials. As Chief Executive Officer of the Cooperative Research Centre for Advanced Composite Structures, he leads an industry-focussed research program involving over 100 researchers from 35 organisations with a budget of $17 million per annum. Through his outstanding leadership and research, Australia is now internationally renowned for excellence in advanced composites.
