Dr David J Cook has an established international reputation in his work, advancing the science of materials technology, with more than a hundred scientific and technical publications in the most reputable periodicals and the conference proceedings, as well as three editaorialships and contributions to the three books on engineering materials.
In the position of Executive Director, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation(ANSTO), Dr Cook developed technical familiarity with all facets of the organisations research and development projects, and demonstrated successful leadership of the nation?s only nuclear research facility, with a highly qualified staff of 850, and an annual budget of $65 million. As an Executive Director of ANSTO, Dr Cook is an alternative governor to the board of International Atomic Energy Agency, National coordinator for the agency?s regional cooperative agreement in South East Asia and a programme coordinator for the Australian International Development Assistance Bureau Bilateral programmes in nuclear technology in Indonesia and Malaysia. As an executive director of NBTC, he established a nation-wide organisation with representation in every state (except Victoria), and developed strong links with the building regulatory process throughout Australia. He was a technical adviser to the Building Research Advisory Committee, coordinating council, and many other national and international scientific and technical organisations and committees.
