C.M. Wang is a Professor in Structural Engineering, The University of Queensland. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, and a Member of the European Academy of Science and Arts. His research interests are in the areas of structural mechanics and floating structures. He is the Leader of the Offshore Engineering Program of the Blue Economy CRC that conducts research projects that combine seafood, renewable energy and offshore engineering, underpinned by a $329 million grant from the Australian Government and industry partners over a 10-year period. His current research focuses on the development of offshore aquaculture infrastructure.

Prof Wang has significantly advanced the field of Structural Mechanics through: 1. his buckling formulae for monosymmetric I-beams, adopted in US and Australian design codes; 2. automating the Ritz method for plate analysis availing extensive plate results; 3. his application of Eringen nonlocal theory to structures that has opened a new research field in nonlocal structural models; 4. his novel discovery that connected shear deformable beam/plate solutions to classical solutions; 5. his R&D on VLFS that offers an alternative to land reclamation (implemented in Singapore). He?s also an industry leader, exceptional educator and mentor.
