Diversity and Inclusion Specialist
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Diversity and Inclusion Specialist to play a key advisory and delivery role in embedding inclusive and culturally safe practices across our organisation
Working collaboratively across teams and with senior leaders, our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee and Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group (RAP), you will help translate strategy into meaningful action, deepening our organisational capability in diversity, equity and inclusion, and supporting the effective implementation of our Innovate RAP.
This role is suited to a practitioner who brings:
- a thoughtful, evidenced-informed and culturally responsive approach to their work,
- deep experience in diversity and inclusion practice and a strong understanding of working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
What you’ll be responsible for
You will contribute to building a more inclusive and culturally safe organisation by:
- Embedding inclusion into practice
- Supporting the integration of inclusive and culturally safe approaches across our policies, advocacy, programs and all ATSE activities.
- Providing trusted advice and guidance
- Partnering with leaders and teams to offer practical, evidence-based advice on diversity, equity, inclusion and cultural safety.
- Supporting reconciliation in action
- Contributing to the delivery, continuous improvement and governance of our Innovate RAP in partnership with the CEO, Deputy CEO and RAP Working Group.
- Building organisational capability
- Strengthening awareness, confidence and shared responsibility for diversity and inclusion, and reconciliation across the organisation.
- Enabling measurement and accountability
- Collaborate to support reporting, evaluation and learning, including embedding equity, diversity and inclusion measures into broader organisational frameworks.
- Contributing to strategic initiatives
- Supporting tenders, partnerships and projects where inclusion, equity or reconciliation are key priorities.
- Fostering respectful relationships
- Building strong, collaborative and respectful relationships across the ATSE ecosystem and with stakeholders to support meaningful and sustained change.
About you
You are an experienced EDI practitioner who brings a thoughtful, reflective and evidence‑informed approach to your work. You understand that meaningful inclusion and reconciliation are grounded in relationships, trust, humility and accountability, alongside technical expertise.
You will bring:

Demonstrated experience supporting and delivering diversity and inclusion initiatives in complex organisations.

A strong understanding of, and experience working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including:

contributing to Reconciliation Action Plans or similar initiatives

a commitment to cultural safety, self‑reflection and continuous learning
-
experience working in partnership rather than through directive approaches.

Proven ability to influence and collaborate across senior leaders, committees and diverse stakeholder groups.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including contributing to reporting and governance processes.

Sound project coordination and organisational skills.

Policy Analyst
About the role
We are seeking a curious and motivated Policy Analyst to join our talented Policy team. We would welcome interest from experienced policy analysts, with a strong interest in science and STEM related issues. Supporting a range of projects the role collaborates across the team and with our Fellowship undertaking desktop research. The role supports Fellow driven committees and forums, including providing professional secretariat services and facilitating meetings and workshops. The position requires an inquisitive mind and highly refined writing skills to produce timely quality reports and submissions, working both independently and collaboratively to support ATSE’s policy work. Understanding of evidenced based policy development and an interest in the political landscape and economics to analyse and form insightful commentary is highly desirable.
