Dr Wendy Craik has played a unique hands-on role in pioneering innovative approaches to the application of ecological science and technology to sustainable management of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

She was responsible for developing one of the world's most comprehensive strategic planning processes for a complete ecosystem and is extremely highly regarded by her scientific peers in Australia and overseas as well as by the broader community of the Great Barrier Reef region.

Her recent appointment as Executive Director of the National Farmers Federation is testimony of her growing influence and recognition beyond her own specialist field and confirms her standing as an eminently worthy Fellow of the Academy.
