Veena Sahajwalla leads research on Sustainable Materials Processing at the University of New South Wales. She completed her Masters degree at the University of British Columbia, then her PhD at University of Michigan. She is on the boards of leading international journals in her field and is regularly invited to deliver keynote/opening lectures worldwide. She has recieved many Australian/international awards for her work, including the prestigious 2006 Environmental Technology Award (AIST) and the 2005 Eureak Prize for Scientific research. She has most recently concieved of, developed and is now patenting an innovative process for recycling waste plastics in EAF steelmaking, with technology being adopted by OneSteel.
