Trevor Danos is a senior, experienced and highly respected company director and strategic adviser for a range of government and private organisations, with a focus that includes the areas of finance, infrastructure, aviation/transport/logistics, Defence, electricity, regulated businesses, health, housing, social innovation, privatisations, circular economy, procurement reform and science/innovation. In his former professional life, Trevor was a senior lawyer recognised by his peers as one of the Australian leaders in his fields. Trevor has tertiary qualifications in Law, Economics and Science. Trevor is chair of Northern Sydney Local Health District and sits on the boards of Endeavour Energy and the privatised NSW Land Registry Office. He is chair of the NSW Treasury Social Investment Expert Advisory Group, chair of the NSW Government Community Housing Industry Council and is a member of the Australia SKA Coordination Committee for the Square Kilometre Array telescope. He is the immediate past chair of the Dean of Science’s Advisory Council at UNSW where he is an Adjunct Professor. He was previously a director of NSW Circular, Summer Housing, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and TransGrid and a member of the Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Committee. He was a senior member of the Commonwealth Treasury Reference Group for the establishment of the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation. Trevor’s board experience includes chairing and membership of Audit and Risk, Regulatory, Remuneration and WHS committees. Trevor is the author of ‘The Pursuit of Excellence: A History of the Professor Harry Messel International Science School’. He regularly writes and has published thought pieces and op-eds on health, science and society, science history and science policy. Trevor is a ‘Male Champion of Change’ (now ‘Champions of Change Coalition’). He was made a Member of the Order of Australia on Australia Day 2014. Trevor has broad and current experience of: • Electricity transmission and electricity distribution as well as the regulation of the Australian electricity sector • Public health, hospital administration, health research and health reform • Science policy, science funding, international science organisations, science research, industry engagement and the challenges of the STEM sector. He is one of the few non-scientists who is a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE) • Social and Affordable Housing and Disability Housing and innovative funding and governance structures for them, as well as the design and operation of the national regulatory system for community housing and the NDIS • Social impact investment theory and innovation, design and delivery, social impact bonds, sustainability bonds, payment by results contracting, philanthropy and social enterprise • Infrastructure design and delivery • Climate change, sustainability and the circular economy

Trevor is a polymath. He has a breadth of knowledge, expertise, experience and influence that is close to unique. His science policy and STEM-related achievements to date with government, industry and the community have had a major impact and have been met with widespread acclaim. ATSE would immediately benefit from his fellowship and would be able to use him to good effect to influence government and the community on issues that are of importance to ATSE. It is expected that he will contribute to policy development in a number of ATSE?s challenge areas.
