Professor Hermesch is a pioneering female researcher in animal and plant genetics and breeding who has achieved significant industry impact. She is the first point of call for all questions related to pig genetics and animal welfare in Australia. She is a mentor of researchers and supporter of women in STEM. She is a passionate promoter of gender equality in the industry, and is the first female President of the Permanent International Committee for WCGALP congresses. Professor Hermesch will add significant value to ATSE by helping to address issues of gender imbalance and challenges of minorities in Australian primary industries.
