Dr Sue Keay is one of Australia’s most influential leaders in artificial intelligence and robotics. She led the development of Australia’s robotics roadmaps, highlighting how advances in robotics impact on every sector of the Australian economy, which has inspired Australia's National Robotics Strategy.

Sue is dedicated to building ecosystems to support R&D as she sees robotic technology as critical in maintaining living standards, protecting the environment, providing services to remote communities, reducing healthcare costs, and creating more efficient and safer workplaces.

Named one of the first Superstars of STEM, Sue is a strong advocate for diversity, and is closely involved with global organisations for women in technology.

Biography at time of election

A leader and change agent, Dr Keay unifies the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics communities in Australia by initiatives such as the formation of Robotics Australia Group, Australia AI Collective, past role as Queensland AI Hub’s CEO and current Director of the UNSW AI Institute. An inaugural Superstar of STEM, she champions diversity and inclusion through strong advocacy with global organisations for Women technologists. Sue creates development opportunities for early career researchers and builds supportive ecosystems for R&D, to enable Australia to benefit from the next industrial revolution, raising awareness of our core capability in these critical technologies.
