Biography at time of election

Ian Duncan joined WMC in 1971 after practical, technical and commercial experiences in various engineering pursuits.

Since 1971 he has gained experience in exploration, exploitation and the commercialisation of mineral projects. He spent 1975/76 in the USA gaining further experience in technical and commercial aspects of the business of WMC.

Uranium was discovered by WMC at Yeelirrie in W. Australia in 1972 and again at Olympic Dam in 1976. Ian Duncan, on WMC's behalf, has participated in the Nuclear Power industry and associations to gain an understanding of the nuclear fuel cycle, the public concerns and the past nuclear debate.

He participated in the commercial underwriting of the development of the Olympic Dam resource and marketed the Copper, Uranium and precious metals products from the resource.

He currently is General Manager of the project, manages the joint venture which owns the project and is Chairman of the
joint marketing company.

He was recently elected Vice Chairman of the Uranium Institute, the International Association for Energy from Nuclear Fuel.

He currently is President of the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy and Committee Chairman in the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Ian Duncan's current task is to manage and to expand to international scale, the Olympic Dam development.

He is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
