George Maltabarow has used his education in economics and engineering to pursue a productive career in government and statutory corporations. As Managing Director of EnergyAustralia, the largest Australian electricity distribution company, and Chair of the Energy Networks Association, he has personally influenced future directions and technologies in modern electricity supply systems.

He understands the combination of commercial and technological changes taking place in the relationship between energy supplier and end user; has identified technological innovations to accelerate change; and has personally supported their implementation. One critical innovation, currently proceeding under his leadership, is the robust exploitation of intelligent grid technologies.
