Elaine has worked as an academic, a clinician, a scientist, a biomedical engineer an entrepreneur, taking Australian inventions global. Sheh as a strong profile and expertise in the hearing sector, and pioneered a telehealth model of hearing care in 2011. She now mostly uses her skills in Directorships, advisory boards, business consulting (particularly in Med Tech)and mentoring. She is also a published author and public speaker. Elaine has led two teams to win the Australian Good Design award.

Dr Saunders is an entrepreneur, business women, author, inventor, and supporter of women in STEM, an advocate for Australian innovation and a trusted adviser on a range of advisory panels to Government, Industry and academia. Elaine is working to alleviate the burden of hearing loss. She co-founded the disruptive, Profit for Purpose, research-led company, "Blamey Saunders Hears" with Prof Blamey and is Executive Chair of the company after six years as CEO. Elaine has a career long ambition to improve access to hearing across the world, including four million Australians who would benefit from improved audiology services.
