David had a 41 years career in The BOC Group with project and operational appointments in Australia, Thailand and the UK and CEO/Chair roles in Australia, Thailand and Japan. He has been chair of two VET statutory authorities, a board member of childhood cancer charity Redkite and chair of a startup company supplying more than 1 million solar electricity systems to remote households in Africa, India and the Pacific. He supports the University of Sydney in undergraduate student industry placements and supports the Academy in increasing. engagement with First Nations STEM leaders.

With a chemical engineering background leading to CEO appointments in global industry, David Hind has pioneered industrial gas technologies across a range of industries. These include minerals processing, food semiconductors and steel. He has also developed technologies to improve gas industry safety efficiency, quality and reliability. Most recently he led BOC in the innovative Queensland Clean Fuels Project (QCFP) with BP for environmentally friendly low sulphur fuels. Hind has led similar projects in Japan, Thailand and the UK. Hind has an inspiring record of developing young engineers for industry leadership.
