Dale Elphinstone is one of Australia's leading entrepreneurs. Following his apprenticeship with William Adams he saw exciting opportunities for the manufacture of mining equipment in Australia, and at age 24 created a company to exploit these opportunities. Through his entrepreneurial and innovative skills he built Caterpillar Elphinstone Pty Ltd into a $200 million enterprise - vital to the economy of Tasmania. His company was finally sold to Caterpillar in 2000, and he now devotes his energies to a wide range of emerging manufacturing and resource companies and an array of directorships. The wheel has turned full circle, and he now owns William Adams Pty Ltd.
