Distinguished Professor Calum J. Drummond is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation and a Vice President of RMIT University. He is an active research professor and has published over 300 articles and patents in the area of advanced materials. He has a PhD and DSc from The University of Melbourne. Professor Drummond is an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) recognising his contributions to chemistry and materials science research, commercialisation initiatives, and mentoring.

Biography at time of election

Professor Drummond, currently an ARC Federation Fellow, is an internationally acclaimed surface and colloid scientist. In his recent 3.5 year secondment from CSIRO to CAP-XX Drummond made major contributions to the development of a unique technologically sophisticated energy storage device now commercialised. His CSIRO work on oil drilling fluids, commercialised by Halliburton Energy Services, and his concrete mould release emulsion work, commercialised by Uniqema, demonstrate outstanding technological innovation. His leading-edge research over 15 years with 30 national and overseas corporations has led to product and process improvements that have been recognised by national and international awards.
