Distinguished Professor Adrian Mouritz is an outstanding materials scientist and engineer who has had an internationally-recognised impact on engineering practice in the fields of advanced fibre composites and fire-safe design. His innovations are used by Defence and the aerospace and automotive industries for designing more damage tolerant composite structures. Prof. Mouritz has also developed modelling tools to ensure the safe design of fire resistant naval ships. He provides outstanding leadership for university engagement with industry, and in establishing research centres that generate significant economic benefits for Australia.
