By sharing your knowledge and expertise, you contribute to a stronger, innovative, and skilled STEM workforce. Mentors also benefit from the opportunity to gain new perspectives and ideas from their mentees, and to connect with the broader sector through ATSE activities.
An IMNIS mentor since 2017, I love to see my mentees achieve success, whether that is in a move to industry, a decision that academia is for them and to see the development in self-confidence, self-awareness and resilience which will set them up for success. The vitality and enthusiasm I receive in return is infectious. I love it!
It is exciting to watch as the Mentees grow during the IMNIS year - they gain confidence and networks and many of them have kept in touch. I am always impressed by the calibre of these students and early career researchers and it’s a pleasure to get to know and support them.
