The Elevate: Boosting Women in STEM program is an innovative program dedicated to empowering women and non-binary individuals to undertake tertiary study in STEM.
Elevate's wrap around supports have enabled us to support 160 scholars so far, with a 98% retention rate. Of those scholars, 40% are from regional and rural areas, 10% are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and about a third of our scholars come from low SES backgrounds.
We are currently looking for our next cohort of amazing women and non-binary scholars. We have a strong focus on a passion for STEM, diversity and equity. If you know someone looking to do undergraduate or postgraduate STEM studies as a domestic student, encourage them to apply! Applications close 30 August 2024.
For individual scholars the program can be lifechanging, but what sets Elevate apart in the sector is the application process.
Our holistic assessment process seeks to eliminate barriers by focusing on the individual circumstances, stories, and alignment with future-focused STEM priorities. Passion and resilience are key to becoming an Elevate scholar.
We are currently seeking fellows to be a key part of this unique process, and invite ATSE Fellows to nominate themselves to be an assessor for 2025.
We ask ATSE Fellows to give 10 hours of their time to review applications and help us select the next STEM professionals and leaders to engage STEM study and the comprehensive wrap around supports of Elevate.
If you are interested or would like to know more, please email elevate@atse.org.au.
While the program is currently funded to run through until 30 April 2028, ATSE’s ambition is to grow the program and continue to build a diverse resource pipeline across STEM sectors.
By partnering with peak bodies, corporations, industry and academia and leveraging the expertise of our Fellows, executive and advisory group, Elevate aims to create a sustainable and scalable impact, to support a more diverse next generation of STEM leaders.
