The ACT ATSE Division presents a hybrid seminar on an Australian context to managing our scarce water resources.

As the driest continent and faced by future variability under climate change, Australia needs a capacity to adapt and optimise reserves and usage in a water constrained current and future environment.

In this seminar session, Dr Flapper FTSE will explore the context of Australia’s perceived water crisis through context drivers and shifting realities and consider our capacity to adapt and respond.

Dr Akeroyd will present a solutions focussed approach based on building on past experience to support sustainability through collective responsibility and cross-sector and transdisciplinary innovation.

This event is open to all.

Dr Akeroyd is the Chair of Water Stewardship Asia-Pacific, a not-for-profit, member-based organisation committed to protecting and enhancing the sustainability of water resources through Water Stewardship. Michele brings a systems perspective to climate challenges and a passion for connecting science to decision making. She has led major environmental watering programs in the Murray-Darling Basin during the Millenium Drought, directed the Goyder Institute to develop an evidence-base to support government decision making in securing sustainable long-term water supplies, and more recently delivering drought resilience research through CSIRO’s Drought Resilience Mission. With a deep experience navigating science-policy interfaces, Michele is a firm advocate for collective action – recognising complex challenges demand shared solutions.
