Dr Vivien Rolland is a leader in applying artificial intelligence and science to transform agrifood systems. His work has created tools now used in crop breeding programmes in Australia and overseas. Viv's contributions have been recognised through awards including the 2024 ATSE ICM Agrifood Award and a 2023 Nuffield Fellowship which enabled him to explore global agrifood challenges: travelling from the tobacco farms of Zimbabwe to the confines of the Food and Agriculture Organisation in Rome. Alongside his work, Viv is a passionate advocate of empowering the next generation and diversity in STEM.

Sara Mills is a Firefighter with Fire and Rescue NSW and a PhD candidate at the University of Newcastle. From the danger and adrenaline of fighting fires to the quiet discipline of research, she has built a career around service and resilience. Her PhD explores how AI can strengthen disaster management, particularly in harnessing emerging technologies for innovative prevention and recovery. Sara is driven to redefine what women are capable of, rewrite the narratives we inherit, and transform knowledge into a force for resilience, protection, and hope across society.
